Catherine Liangso is a passionate soprano, eager to bring her artistry to the stage and share the beauty of classical and contemporary music with audiences.
Biography
Catherine Liangso is a talented soprano currently pursuing a voice major at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore. As a full-time student, she is focused on expanding her vocal techniques and artistry, drawing on both classical and pop music traditions. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jessica Chen Hsing An, she is developing her craft and preparing for a professional career in music.
Her musical journey began at an early age, as she started singing pop music at just 4 years old. By the age of 15, she shifted her focus to classical music, studying voice and expanding her repertoire. Alongside her vocal training, she also learned to play piano and guitar, which further enriched her musicality. She completed her vocational schooling before enrolling at NAFA, where she is currently pursuing a diploma in voice performance.
Throughout her career, Catherine Liangso has participated in a variety of performances that showcase her diverse talents. She started perform at family weddings at an early age and was invited to sing for a charity event in Medan in 2017, where she collaborated with a children’s chorus. Her talents have also led her to sing at a middle school open house and perform with an orchestra for a tuition center’s 50th anniversary celebration. She has also performed in the French opera Pierrette et Jacquot by Jacques Offenbach as Madame Patachat and participated in several concert series at NAFA. Additionally, she teaches both classical and pop music to private students, helping them develop their musical and vocal abilities.
In terms of recognition, Catherine placed 5th in a singing competition in 2018 in Indonesia, earned Cum Laude Honors in the 16-year-old category at the La Pianista Classical Festival in 2021, and won the Best Award at the Indonesia Open Competition in 2017.
Currently, her focus is on completing her diploma to the best of her abilities, with the aim of securing a job after graduation to support her continued studies and professional growth in music.
